By far the most comprehensive resource regarding global education is Asia Society, particularly the text Educating for Global Competence: Preparing Our Youth to Engage the World by Veronica Boix Mansilla and Anthony Jackson, which can be accessed and read in its entirety via the website. This text identifies three rationale for global education: a flattened global economy, unprecedented global migration, and climate instability. It then discusses the four main global competences (investigating the world, recognizing perspectives, communicating effectively, and taking action) in depth, offering rationale for each as well as how actual educators have incorporated them into their classrooms.

IREX, a "global development and education organization," compiled Tools and Resources for Global Classrooms, an extraordinary database divided into categories such as Web Tools to Facilitate International Communication, Initiatives & Organizations that Support Collaboration Between Global Classrooms, Lesson Plans & Student Resources with an International Focus, and Further Information about International Topics. IREX also created Global Education 101, a free online course from which educators can learn more about the four competencies, gain instructional strategies, and find additional resources.

The Global Competence Certificate is an online, graduate-level program run jointly by Teachers College Colombia University, World Savvy, and Asia Society. The goal is to help educators infuse global competencies in their curriculum, prepare students for reality beyond the classroom, and assume leadership positions with global education at the center. The program includes two to three weeks of field work, either domestically or internationally, with local partners in education and community development.
